Faboulousness

My cousin and her family are here in town for Shark Fight - Rex is fighting in it Saturday... so this evening we all got together to have dinner and just hang out. Wyatt and Riley played and played, the dogs went crazy and the adults chatted. It was wonderful.

GO LUCK REX!!

Tomorrow we leave for Ft. Worth for the weekend to celebrate Kristen's 21st birthday! We're dropping the kid (aka our dog LOL) off at Debra & Paula's and we're going to stay at Brendan's uncle's lake house in Weatherford. It will be so nice and relaxing I hope!

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS!

This was sent to me in an email and I HAD to pass it on. Everyone needs to see this... Please read:

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High school shootings in Littleton , Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert!

These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out f or answers."

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart."In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. "

"I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.. I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. "

"Your laws ignore our deepest needs,Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die.

You seek for answers everywhere,And ask the question "Why?"

You regulate restrictive laws,Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!"

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. "

"Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? "

"We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. "

"The real villain lies within our own hearts."

"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. "

"To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"Do what the media did not - - let the nation hear this man's speech... Please send this out to everyone you can. "

More on the controversy

So now Perez Hilton, who I loved up until about 5am this morning... has resorted to making fun of Miss California's FAMILY, simply because he didn't like her answer to his gay marriage question.

I am continually baffled by people who demand equality, cry out, and bitch and moan about inequality... yet they are doing the very thing they are complaining about - in my opinion.

Should someone tell them they could no longer mention their beliefs in public or on the web, can you imagine the kind of hell all those gay men would bring down upon everyone? Be honest, I won't tell... But THEY are trying to do that very thing to anyone who does not agree with them!

I think that may be called hypocrisy, not sure, might have to bust out the ol' Websters on that one - haha.

CONTROVERSY

I don't usually blog about anything controversial, but this has me all fired up.

Perez Hilton, a celebrity blogger and a homosexual, asked the 1st runner up in the Miss USA pageant, where he was a judge, a question on how she felt about gay marriage - essentially. She was not raised to believe in it. You would think, question asked, question answered, right? OF COURSE NOT!

This is what gets me about the whole thing, she is being criticized and chastised for not believing in it. WHY? Last time I checked the Miss USA pageant was held in AMERICA, where AMERICANS have the FREEDOM to live and believe however they choose.

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a conservative Republican. I do NOT believe in abortion, I do NOT believe that God should be taken out of the public municipal buildings, so on and so forth. And I do NOT believe that everyone deserves a spot in heaven. When they break God's law, they go to hell.

This said however... here is MY view on gay marriage: if someone wants to be a homosexual, let them. If they choose to turn their backs on God's law (and yes, it does mention homosexuality in the BIBLE numerous times, and it is not PRO gay, I promise) then THEY will have to face the consequence of that decision when their time comes. If they have been ministered to, and know God's laws, then they know he has given them to live with free will and can choose that lifestyle. I do believe that if you are a homosexual, you are not going to heaven.

Now don't call the ACLU on me. This is just my opinion. And I feel it is an educated one, as I have heard what the BIBLE says on this exact matter.

It is 5:30am and I up blogging about this and that pisses me off.

I want to know why it is ok for (you) to believe in Point A, but not me to believe in Point B? Yes, they different beliefs, but ultimately, isn't that what this country was founded on? The freedom to believe what we choose to? Why can (you) run to the ACLU and sue me for whatever, simply because my belief differs from yours? How can you call me a pea-brained moron, just because my belief differs from yours?

I am so sick of homosexuality being shoved in my face on a daily basis and I am just supposed to say it is ok because the squeaky wheels are loudly shoving their opinion down every one's throats. I don't believe it is right. Bottom line. I do believe a Godly marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN.

I do not believe that the government should be able, however, to come in and say who you can and can't fall in love with, and create a life together.

There is a lesbian couple who we are friends with. I do not judge their lifestyle. It makes me sad to know that I will not see them in heaven, but that is their choice. They are a wonderful couple who have been together for about 20 years. They have a son together, and they are a loving family. That boy is one of the luckiest boys in the world to have those women in his life. I do not feel that it is up to the government to say they cannot get married, or not have the same legal rights as any other hetero married couple has. Should something happen to one of them, their son should be afforded the same right, as a child with a mom and a dad would be.

I know I may sound contradictory, but I don't think I am... I am a Christian, who loves her God and tries (and fails a lot of the time) to follow his path. I don't think it wrong to also love a homosexual couple. I am not homosexual, that is my choice. They are, that is their choice. We will all have our consequences one day for the choices we have made.

SO next time someones opinion, or belief, differs from yours, listen to what they have to say, respectfully disagree and move on. There is no need for sarcasm or hatred...

OK, it is time for me to try and calm down and go back to bed for like 30 minutes!

Fun with the Fam in Abilene

I'm pretty sure everyone will agree that the kiddos grow up way too fast. This is Wyatt with his 2 yr old 2nd cousins Riley and Taylor. We drove to Abilene yesterday for both girls birthday parties. I still can't believe they are TWO!!!!!
This pic is unfortunately a rare occurrence, since our cousins and their babies are so far away, and driving a 1 yr old 3 hours both ways is not exactly fun...

Wyatt wasn't all smiles on the way there, or back LOL... but this is one of my favorite pics from our drive back! He's a silly, giggly boy when he wants to be!!

Spring has srung

Well we are definitely having Spring weather in Lubbock. I just love it when people get all freaked out, thinking they see funnel clouds overhead. Funny how you can visualize rotation, when it's just the wind.

Anyway, this pic was taken from my car in my parents driveway... I had to make a detour from the loop on my way home from work, because the hail and rain got so bad that I couldn't even see most of the way! Good thing I know my way home - LOL. I have NEVER seen their street so flooded.
It was the first time in my 32 years of living here, with this severe weather, that I was nervous driving!

J O B

This was my 6th week at my job... and I still LOVE it! Everyone is super super super nice and I'm pretty comfortable with the software and running orders and receipts. Everything else will just have to be on the "learn as you go" method.

Now... if they will just give me a dang key :-)

A Dog and God

A dog had followed his owner to school. His owner was a fourth grader at a public elementary school.

However, when the bell rang, the dog slid inside the building and made it all the way to the child's classroom before a teacher noticed and shooed him outside, closing the door behind him.

The dog sat down, whimpered and stared at the closed doors.

Then God appeared beside the dog, patted his head, and said,

'Don't feel bad fella'...they won't let ME in either'.

*how very profound :-)

RANDOM EMAIL GOODNESS :-)

This will give you the chills....... GOOD chills.

A young man had been to Wednesday Night Bible Study.

The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice.
The young man couldn't help but wonder, 'Does God still speak to people?'

After service, he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways.

It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, 'God...If you still speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.'

As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk.

He shook his head and said out loud, 'God is that you?' He didn't get a reply and started on toward home.

But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk.

The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn't recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli.

'Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk.' It didn't seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.

As he passed Seventh Street , he again felt the urge, 'Turn Down that street.'
This is crazy he thought, and drove on past the intersection.

Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street .

At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh.

Half jokingly, he said out loud,

'Okay, God, I will.'

He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semi- commercial area of town. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst of neighborhoods either. The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people were already in bed.

Again, he sensed something, 'Go and give t he milk to the people in the house across the street.' The young man looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat .
'Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid.' Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk.

Finally, he opened the door, 'Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will count for something, but if they don't answer right away, I am out of here.'

He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear some noise inside. A man's voice yell ed out, 'Who is it? What do you want?' Then the door opened before the young man could get away.

The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. H e looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn't seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. 'What is it?'

The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, 'Here, I brought this to you.' The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway.

Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying. The man had tears streaming down his face.
The man began speaking and half crying, 'We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn't have any milk for our baby. I w as just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk.'

His wife in the kitchen yelled out, 'I ask him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?'
The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put in the man's hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face. He knew that God still answers prayers.

WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

So we didn't go to the Easter Egg Drop. There was about half of Lubbock there... which is great, except that I am REALLY NOT in to large crowds, especially large crowds of excitable children, running everywhere. AND I would've had to park about 2 miles away... not for me, thanks! Maybe next year, if they continue the tradition...

We did rent a few movies... The Day the Earth Stood Still w/Keanu Reeves - not a bad flick, nice special effects, but it didn't blow me away... kind of like Knowing, good movie, interesting concept.

We also rented TWILIGHT!!! Yesssssssss!!!!! I don't LOVE the movie, like I do the books, but Edward's nice to look at over and over - hehe.

We have How to Lose Friends and Alienate People w/Simon Pegg (who I HEART!) but haven't watched it yet. Right now I am doing a load of laundry and fixing to jump in the shower, because we are going to Saturday church. Uncle Ken is going w/us again - YAY!!

*watched it. It's really good. Makes me LOVE LOVE LOVE Simon :-)

Last night was our good friend, Nick's dad's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STANLEY! We had a great time hanging out w/the Bohn's and the Moohn's. Kids running around like crazy, all hopped up on the Easter sugar. We got to see a video of the insanity that was the egg drop, and it just made me glad we decided not to go. Allison was video taping everything and as the hordes of children (and adults - tsk tsk you people) were shoving their way on to the field you could hear her say "OOOOHHHHH I hope my children are with my family!" She thought she was never going to find them in that crowd. Thankfully Nana and Aunt Kiki had all the kiddos under control - WHEW!

Happy Easter everyone... God Bless

OVER 30 CROWD!!!

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious....

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning. Uphill... barefoot... BOTH ways. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it. But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy. I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia. And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it.

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue..

There was no email.. We had to actually write somebody a letter, with a pen. Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there. Stamps were 10 cents.

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass. No where was safe.

There were no MP3's or Napsters. You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself. Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up.

There were no CD players. We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished and the tape would come undone 'cause that's how we rolled; dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting. If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it. And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either. When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was. It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know... You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister.

We didn't have any fancy Sony Play Station video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics. We had the Atari 2600. With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square. You actually had to use your imagination.. And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever. And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died. Just like LIFE.

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on. You were screwed when it came to channel surfing. You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel.

There was no Cartoon Network either. You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning.. Do you hear what I'm saying.?. We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat bastards.

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or before.

Regards, The over 30 Crowd ;-)

EASTER

Memories...

As we were laying in bed tonight, Brendan and I started reminiscing about our history. He was telling me about his life before me, the trials, jobs, broken relationships, etc.

He told me about his old roommate, and their craziness, about how he ended up in California for a short stay, and eventually how he ended up here in Lubbock.

Most of the stories and history I already know... some of it was given more details, but what he said to me later really touched me. We were talking about the really serious relationship he was in before me, and that when it ended how devastated he was. He told me how he dealt with the pain and the hurt, by drinking and using women.

He told me that this hurt and devastation followed him all the way to California again... and even though it eased after time, he still thought of her constantly.

Then he said all that hurt and pain went away... on the day he met me.

Wow. What do you say after that? I knew as soon as we met that he was the one... but to hear him say something like that about me, just takes my breath away.

MORE PROOF THAT GOD IS AWESOME...

I don't see how anyone can deny there is a GOD...

Tiny and dying but still-powerful stars called pulsars spin like crazy and light up their surroundings, often with ghostly glows. So it is with PSR B1509-58, which long ago collapsed into a sphere just 12 miles in diameter after running out of fuel.

And what a strange scene this one has created.

In a new image from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, high-energy X-rays emanating from the nebula around PSR B1509-58 have been colored blue to reveal a structure resembling a hand reaching for some eternal red cosmic light.

The star now spins around at the dizzying pace of seven times every second -- as pulsars do -- spewing energy into space that creates the scene.

Strong magnetic fields, 15 trillion times stronger than the Earth's magnetic field, are thought to be involved, too. The combination drives an energetic wind of electrons and ions away from the dying star. As the electrons move through the magnetized nebula, they radiate away their energy as X-rays.

The red light actually a neighboring gas cloud, RCW 89, energized into glowing by the fingers of the PSR B1509-58 nebula, astronomers believe.

The scene, which spans 150 light-years, is about 17,000 light years away, so what we see now is how it actually looked 17,000 years ago, and that light is just arriving here.

A light-year is the distance light travels in a year, about 6 trillion miles (10 trillion kilometers).

EASTER CUTENESS!

AWESOMENESS

Today our Uncle Ken came to church with us. He LOVED it! He felt totally at ease and comfortable - not judged at all. As our churches mission says "NO PERFECT PEOPLE ALLOWED!"

On that note - our church is doing a city wide "Easter Egg Drop" this Friday, April 10th at 5pm at Lowery Field at 66th and Avenue P. They are expecting THOUSANDS of people to attend to watch a BUNCH of Easter eggs being dropped out of a helicopter. There will also be bounce houses and an Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddos. It's going to be fantastic! Hope to see everyone there!!!

EVen GOD Has a Sense of Humor

An atheist was walking through the woods.

'What majestic trees'!
'What powerful rivers'!
'What beautiful animals'!He said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look.He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer.

He tripped & fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.

At that instant the Atheist cried out,
'Oh my God!'

Time Stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky.

'You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.'

'Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer'?

The atheist looked directly into the light,'It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian'?

'Very Well,' said the voice. The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:

'Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.'

*NOW THAT'S FUNNY! I feel sorry for anyone who denies the existence of Jesus Christ. They are missing out on a very fulfilling life, full of blessings and wonder.
