Kendra's most awesomely, fantastical movies LIST:

Brendan and I are obsessed with movies... I am always having conversations with my friends/family that go something like this, "Have you ever seen (insert certain movie name here)? OMG it is so funny/good/hysterical, etc" and the answer is usually no! So I am compiling a list of movies that I suggest EVERYONE watch, at least once...
  1. Accepted (Justin Long, Jonah Hill)
  2. Run Fat Boy Run (Simon Pegg, Thandie Newton, Hank Azaria)
  3. Stardust (Claire Danes, Michelle Pieffer, Robert DeNiro will make you LOVE this movie, but he's not there until half way thru... trust me though, it's totally worth it)
  4. SUPERBAD! (Jonah Hill, Michael Cera)
  5. Waiting (Ryan Reynolds, Justin Long, Anna Faris) *warning - do not watch while eating
  6. Shaun of the Dead (Simon Pegg)
  7. Employee of the Month (Dane Cook, Dax Sheperd, Jessica Simpson)
  8. Eurotrip (Scott Mechlowicz, Jacob Pitts, Kristin Kreuk) *you WILL get "Scotty doesn't know..." stuck in your head... I promise
  9. The Italian Job (Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Charlize Theron, Donald Sutherland)
  10. Dogma (Kevin Smith, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, ALAN RICKMAN!!!)
  11. Clerks (Kevin Smith's early work)
  12. Super Troopers (Kevin Hefferman)
  13. Cowboy Way (Woody Harrelson, Kiefer Sutherland)
  14. John Tucker Must Die (Brittany Snow, Jesse Metcalf, Sophia Bush, Ashanti)
  15. Little Miss Sunshine (Abigail Breslin, Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette)
  16. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell, Jason Segel)
  17. Fargo (Francis McDermand, Steve Buschemi)
  18. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (Kevin Smith, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon)
  19. Grandma's Boy (Allen Colvert, Lina Cardellini)
  20. The Other Boleyn Girl (Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson)
  21. IRON MAN (Robert Downey, Jr, Terrance Howard)
  22. Transformers (Shia LeBeouf)
  23. Disturbia (Shia LeBeouf)
  24. 30 Days of Night *warning, this is bloody, oogey & disturbing, so only watch if you LOVE horror movies, like I do
  25. Prom Night (Brittany Snow)
  26. ALL of the Harry Potter movies are worth watching at least once!

For your inner child:

  1. Cars
  2. Wall-E
  3. Hoodwinked (Anne Hathaway)
  4. Matilda (Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rhea Pearlman)
  5. Labyrinth (David Bowie, one of Jennifer Connely's first movies)
  6. Escape to Witch Mountain
  7. Happy Feet

So here are some suggestions I have for some awesome movie watching... tell me what some of YOUR faves are!!!

As we are constantly watching movies, both new and old, I will add to this list periodically...

What a life...

So we are in the last stages (sort of) of remodeling and adding an addition to my great grandmother's house. We have hit some snags however, and we really don't know what's going to end up happening with the project.

In the beginning, we had a budget of $38,000 for the entire thing. For reasons (still not fully explained to us by the power that be) the budget was cut down to $30,000. That's a HUGE difference when you think about everything that has to be done...

So the roof is on, the heating/AC and plumbing are being done... but once that is complete our budget is done. YIKES, right?

No flooring, no sheet rock, no paint, no CABINETS... it's all very scary, especially since right now we aren't in a position to get MORE money... *heavy sigh*

God will take care of us, I know this... but my worrisome nature takes over and consumes me at times. I have gotten better, but I am only human after all :-)

I will just keep on praying that everything will work out how it is supposed to, which is all I can do really.

Job Hunt - again

I retook my typing test for the Lubbock Police Department 911 & non-emergency dispatch and got numbers they like... 53 wpm & 97% accuracy.

So keep your fingers crossed, pray, etc etc that it might pan out!

PRAYER ALERT! PLEASE READ

We go to a church that doesn't believe in your typical "Sunday School" atmosphere... instead we do what is called "Lifehouses", where you meet with a small group of people that are in your same "life stage".

Anyway, our very very good friends, Nick and Allison lead the 8th grade youth lifehouse, every Wednesday night. Well this last Wednesday (Feb 11th) there was a young man at the lifehouse who headed to the bathroom. He was in there quite a long time, no one knew where he had disappeared to... Nick went to check on him and he had collapsed. Nick immediately started CPR, while they waited for EMS to show up.

Unfortunately, it was a brain aneurysm and he died. So I am asking for prayers for this young man's family, Nick and Allison, and our the entire youth group at Experience Life.

Nick is not handling this tragedy well, understandably... and of course his family is just devastated.

THANK YOU in advanced for your thoughts and prayers in this hard time.

I know God will heal this family, and the church over time...

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

So it is the day before Valentine's Day... this will be the 4th VD Brendan and I have spent together! He and I have been through SOOO much together, that it feels like we have been together A LOT longer...

Anyway, we decided to spend the day together, making my favorite dish from the Cheesecake Factory, Chicken Madeira (wow, just typing it makes my mouth water!). I am also making brownie cupcakes... and apparently Brendan has a surprise for me that he refuses to tell me what it is!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!! (I'm such a brat sometimes! hehehe)
Anyway, we hope that everyone has a super, fantastic Valentine's Day tomorrow, full of love, hearts and lots of chocolate ;-)

I Love My Mornings

Every morning, after Brendan leaves for work, Jack jumps up in bed with me to cuddle. This is my most favorite thing about the morning. (Anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a morning person.)

Brendan and I cannot have children, so Jack pretty much fills that void. Brendan and I both would do ANYTHING for Jack, to protect him or make him happy.

When Brendan's home, its play time for them... but when its just Jack and I, all he wants to do is cuddle...

So that's how I get t spend my mornings... cuddling with my little boy... (although he's not so little anymore!!). I am the luckiest girl in the world!

The Job Hunt... cont'd...

So I am still looking for a job. I have had some nibbles, even some that I really thought I had a good shot at getting... but turned out those places were not where God wanted me.

I had an interview this morning at a chiropractic office and I am really encouraged. It is a very relaxed, easy going office and the owner is a Christian. In fact, he knows our pastor AND some of his family go there! Every morning they pray before work, even some of the employees who aren't even Christians ask to be involved in the prayers. I really feel like God wants me in a place where I can be with people who will be kind and supportive and will help me grow in his Word.

So, please pray hard that I find that place soon. While I enjoy being able to stay at home, it is taking a toll on our finances...

I will keep everyone updated on anything that may come up!

Thanks & love ~ Kendra

The Job Hunt...

So I have been searching for a job since late November. Job hunting is the most depressing, self esteem killing thing in the world, especially in this economy. If I could do construction, or a nurse, I'd be set! But alas, I cannot do either...

I have had a few nibbles here and there but nothing too concrete, until a few weeks ago.

Now I have 2 places that are seriously considering me... they just have to make up their minds.

So keep my hunt in your prayers, if you don't mind. I NEED this!!!

Thanks :-)
